Today we worked on a webquest introduction to meiosis! Below are the answers to the webquest in case you were unable to finish in class. Tomorrow we will review meiosis and discuss what the difference between haploid and diploid is!
Below is the answer key for the capstone review! Please take a look over it if you have questions. If after reading over the answer you are still confused, let me know! We will be reviewing more tomorrow in class and doing another practice quiz. Good luck studying! You're going to do great!
Once you have completed your Checkpoint quiz, please go to ScienceDaily.com. There you will see a variety of different articles about new scientific findings, science news, and interesting scientific information. Find an article that interests you, read through the article and take some notes, and then create a summary of what you read. Your summary should be about 1 paragraph and include the major informational points.
Happy scientific reading! Our checkpoint is tomorrow on human interactions with ecosystems and sustainability. Below is a review video going over the practice quiz. Please take a look! If you have any questions please email me or see me before school. Good luck studying! You're going to do great! Today we will be reading a section out of the book titled "Using Resources Wisely". It begins on page 158 in your book (section 6.2). If you did not bring your book you can download the chapter below.
We have discussed climate change and the affect humans have had on greenhouse gasses in Earth's atmosphere. Let's shift our attention to more direct impacts of humans on environments. Today you will be reading a case study about the Amazon Rainforest and proposing a use for land in the rainforest. First you will need to read over the case study attached below. Make sure to skim-and-scan for important information. If you need to, take notes on a separate sheet of paper.
Once you have read over the case study, you will answer the 4 questions at the end of the study. Answer these on a separate sheet of paper so you can turn them in at the end of class. When everyone at your table is done with the questions, work as a group to come up with a proposal for the land. Be sure to explain your answer and support it with evidence from class. Make it a convincing argument!
We have now seen some of the impact humans have had on the environment. Now we are going to look at things that we can do to reduce our impact and help preserve Earth's Environment.
For this project you will do the following:
You may work individually or in a group of 2 on this project. We will be presenting these in class tomorrow so be sure to use your time wisely! By the end of class today, comment on this post with a "Tweet" about how you plan on telling people to reduce their carbon footprint. It should be no longer than 160 characters (including hashtags)! Good luck! I'm excited to see your work! Edit: Great comments everyone! I love the use of hashtags and you all had some really awesome (and simple) ways we can all reduce our carbon footprint!!! Yesterday we discussed some of the effects that humans have had on ecosystems. We discussed three major factors: agriculture, development, and industrialization. Today we are going to look at a case study about global warming. Your job will be the following:
